Most people don’t realize how fast things can go wrong — or right — in early breastfeeding.
One day you’re latching and surviving. The next, you’re wondering why no one warned you it might hurt this much, or why your baby is suddenly fussy, or why you’re crying after every feed.
That’s where SOS Lactation comes in.
We don’t just help with “the latch.”
We help you understand your baby.
We help you protect your mental health.
We help you actually reach your feeding goals — without guessing.
Why I Started This Practice
Before I became an IBCLC, I was a first-time mom who didn’t know what she didn’t know.
I was in pain. I was confused, frustrated, and sleep-deprived. And the support I got? It felt rushed. Like I was just another chart to update.
That experience is why I started SOS Lactation — to offer the kind of care I wish I had back then.
Support that doesn’t stop at checklists.
Support that says, “Let’s figure this out together.”
What We Do (That Others Don’t)
This isn’t hospital hallway support. This isn’t a quick glance and a handout. At SOS, we:
- Come to your home (or meet you virtually or in-office — your choice).
- Review your birth story, baby’s feeding behavior, your goals, and your stress levels.
- Look at feeding from every angle: latch, transfer, oral function, body tension, milk supply, history.
- Communicate with your whole care team if needed (pediatrician, OB, midwife, dentist, doula, etc.).
- Leave you with a personalized, written plan — and actual answers.
We don’t believe in “just wait and see.”
We believe in acting early, adjusting smartly, and supporting fully.
What Our Clients Say (Again and Again)
“This was the first time someone actually listened.”
“You explained more in one visit than I’ve gotten from three appointments elsewhere.”
“I left feeling calm, informed, and finally confident.”
That’s the SOS way.
It’s not magic. It’s care that goes deeper — and it works.
If You’ve Been With Us
If you’re one of the thousands of families we’ve helped since 2016 — thank you. You built this practice. Your referrals, your trust, your stories shared with others… that’s what has made SOS what it is today.
And if we haven’t met yet — but this sounds like the kind of help you’ve been looking for — I hope you’ll stick around.
If you are in the greater Houston area and you need help meeting your breastfeeding goals, give us a visit at SOS Lactation. And we can help you virtually anywhere else. Don’t suffer in silence.
Next week, I’ll share something that grew out of this work — something small but mighty, built with every mom I’ve ever helped in mind.
But for now, just know: we see you. And we’ve got you.
With care,
Leah
